Cell V4 from the dorsal hypothalamus is shown as silent while the cat was lying down and then firing after the cat was lifted (L) and stood on its feet. Cell N2 from the nucleus centralis lateralis of the thalamus is shown firing during head turning (H). Cell a1 is shown inhibited while the experimenter held the cat's chin up.
