As can be seen from the discussions, the preliminary report and the Declaration, tho Yamoussoukro Congress not only fully endorsed the Statement but also recommended a number of actions which should be taken by Unesco in the future. You may rest assured that those recommendations meet with my unreserved approval and that I intend to implement them. Before indicating some specific decisions and actions I have already taken in this respect, may I first of all thank you for your impressive work during the Congress. David, the fact that the Seville Statement became one of the focal points of the Congress is certainly the result of your excellent introduction to the discussion. I have also noted with great satisfaction that you all participated very actively in the debate and that your written response distributed during the congress clarified in a very constructive and precise manner points raised during the discussions. With regard to your suggestions concerning subsequent steps which should be taken by Unesco, I have pleasure in informing you that your proposals do coincide with what has been done so far: . . . . .
