CPNN was conceived when I was at UNESCO as a network of websites in local languages around the world, connected to a central website based in Australia, that would reproduce English copies of the articles from websites in other languages. This was illustrated in the poster that was included in the exhibition for the UNESCO General Assembly in November 2000.
As you can see from the poster, there were eight websites already functioning at that time (note that you can click on their links to go to related files on the wayback machine of internet archives and in the case of the Australian site, the gifs are animated there): International School of Paris CPNN El Salvador CPNN Argentina CPNN Central Site in Australia CPNN Japan Although I could find many of the websites as above on the wayback machine of internet archives, they are not in their form in the year 2000, but from a few years later. I could not find a record of the site in Chile, Jordan or Russia, but I did find a copy of an article from the Russian site that we reproduced on CPNN New England. In addition to the above, I was able to find a copy of the UNESCO site for CPNN in the year 2000 through its link on the site of the International School of Paris. |
