Stories Update of Culture of Peace Corporation * * * * * * |
As I write this in 2019, we are entering the ninth year of the Culture of Peace Corporation, and it is time for an update since I last wrote about it in 2013.
Many of the directors are still involved: Jo Lofgren McAuley (UK and Sweden), Marcos Estrada (Brazil and UK), Meg Villanueva (Philippines), Oliver Rizzi Carlson (Switzerland), Joe Yannielli (USA and UK), Gwenaeille Beauvais (France) and Isabelle Legaré (Canada and USA). Since then we have added Roberto Mercadillo from Mexico and Romeral Ortiz Quintella (now with the UN in Panama) and, as of 2020, Herbert Santos and Myrian Castillo from Brazil. Most of them (Jo, Marcos, Oliver, Joe, Gwen, Herbert and Myrian) are in this photo taken at our wedding in 2019. Notice the champagne flutes! I attach the annual meetings (initial and final mailings) over the years. 2011: I had previously emailed the directors individually and established their particular responsibilities for the sustainability of the culture of peace, as described in a previous page. 2012: The main item this year was how to improve CPNN, and it was decided to send out a questionnaire to our readers. 2013: Again this year, the main item was how to improve CPNN, and it was decided to send out a mailing to all who have written for CPNN encouraging them to become regular reporters. 2014: The highlight this year was an essay I sent them about world historic consciousness versus sectarianism with criticisms of two persons who had recently engaged in sectarian approaches, Anwarul Chowdhury and Dominic Barter. 2015: Again, the main theme was revision of CPNN, and it was decided, especially on the advice of Joe Yannielli, to re-program CPNN into a Wordpress format which would be easy for others to use as well as myself. 2016: In view of the greatly increased xenophobia of the Great Powers and the danger of a World War III, we agreed to work on a project with Federico Mayor concerning radical reform proposals for UN to promote a culture of peace and non violence, and including a proposal to establish a "shadow security council" involving mayors of major cities, directed by a small volunteer secretariat. 2017: Once again, the main theme concerned CPNN, getting teachers and students to be reporters, and raising some money from our readers. 2018: text 2019a: text. 2019b: text 2020: text 2021: the first annual meeting with the Corporation now based in France 2022 text
The most consistent theme is development of CPNN. See the following page for a more detailed look at this history.
