Whereas in the US I kept no pets because I was always traveling, in France Kiki always had pets which we came to share.

From Paris in 2009 she brought Marcel, the sweet golden retriever and Charlie, Begood, the black angora cat. The two of them adjusted well to country life and were good buddies, sometimes play-fighting a bit, but always nice to each other. Marcel finally died at the age of 13 in 2018, and Charlie began to slow down after that.

Here they are on our red convertible named Lili.

In 2018 we were adopted by Finette, another cat. At first she was wild. Then she was adopted by Monique next door, and when Monique died, Finette adopted us. At first, she was quite shy, but over time she gained confidence. She never agreed to use the cat-door in the bathroom (considering it a trap??) and instead demanded to come and go by the second-floor window of our bedroom, sometimes twice in the same night.

In 2019 we adopted another golden retriever, Johnny. His previous owner named him after his favorite singer, Johnny Halliday. Johnny quickly adopted to live with us and demanded constant attention, a real "pot de colle."

Beginning in 2015 we kept some of Armand's goats. At first, he milked them and made cheese at our house. Here he is with two of the first, Camomille and Clotilde:

Then Armand's parents bought and his father remodeled a farm for his goats in Preuseville. At that point we became an "old-folks home" for goats that could no longer produce milk and we castrated two young males, Modeste and Marius. Here is Modeste on the right with Sweetie on the left, a female in retirement.
